We'll be at stART on the Street, a huge art festival, taking photos of anyone that's interested in participating in the project. What we need help with is helping people register, talking to them about the project, and calling passersby over if they look interested. Registration is straightforward (name and email), just need help keeping things moving when it gets busy and I'm taking photos.
We use art and humour to challenge stereotypes and help people find commonality despite their differences. Participants pose as the Three Wise Monkeys: See, Hear, & Speak No Evil; pick three labels that describe themselves; and write a good deed to show they’re “not evil”. The goal is to show a wide variety of people are doing good things in the community and to challenge any negative stereotypes people may have about those labels.
Volunteers should believe in the mission of the project and enjoy talking to people. It's a very fun event and you get to meet a wide range of people and have interesting conversations as well.
The event is from 11am-6pm and we plan to have 2hr shifts but you are welcome to volunteer for as long as you'd like that day.
