Who We Are

MAB’s mission is to eliminate barriers and create opportunities that ensure individuals with disabilities can live full, healthy, and independent lives. Founded in 1903 as one of the first U.S. social service organizations serving blind adults, today MAB is a statewide multi-service organization that operates three program divisions: MA Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI, serving seniors with visual disabilities), Adult Disability Services (serving adults with developmental disabilities and/or blindness) and Ivy Street (serving neurodiverse adolescents). What sets MAB apart as a human service agency is the priority we place on human-centered design; creating robust programs that address the specific goals of each person. We believe that their is no "one way" to do blindness - just your way.

What We Do

No other organization in the state offers the level of integrated services that MABVI does to specifically address the unique needs of older adults who are aging into serious vision loss. Programs include: Vision rehabilitation occupational therapy, access technology training, peer empowerment support groups, mental health supports, and volunteer services.
