Worcester Partnership Program at Bancroft School
The Worcester Partnership provides selected students in Grades K-8 with limited financial resources from Worcester Public Schools (WPS) with an engaging four-week summer program that addresses summer learning loss through academic support and fun, interactive activities. This 4-week summer program serves approximately 125 WPS student and is hosted on the Bancroft School campus in June/July. Each day combines the challenge and excitement of academics in the morning, with the spirit of fun and lively camp activities in the afternoon.

Volunteer Position Summary
This volunteer position provides an opportunity for college students/graduates to gain valuable experience in an environment geared towards supporting students’ academics, while also serving as positive role models who will engage with them during fun camp activities. Volunteers will assist with a variety of administrative and support tasks to facilitate student engagement and learning, aid teachers with daily operational needs, and create a safe, caring environment that contributes to the students’ and program’s success.

Responsibilities
Volunteer students in this role may assist with administrative tasks leading up to the start of the WP Summer Program. Administrative tasks might include:
-Preparing documents and materials for the program
-Entering information accurately and efficiently into databases and spreadsheets
-Sorting and organizing supplies and materials
-Developing creative and fun activities
-Other duties as assigned

Once the program is underway, volunteers will assist WP program teachers with:
-Tutoring individual students, facilitating small groups, and helping reinforce lesson plans
-Serving as positive role models and interacting with students during breakfast, lunch, recess, transitions and various indoor and outdoor activities
-Assisting with student safety, engaging in positive conversations with participants, and assisting staff with daily operational needs

Qualifications
The WP Summer program is looking for volunteers who meet the following qualifications:
-An empathetic personality and a genuine desire to help students and families succeed
-Valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion
-The ability to work independently and as part of a team-The ability to handle sensitive information with care and confidentiality
-An enthusiastic and engaging personality that will help boost morale and facilitate connections
-The ability to speak, read and understand some Spanish and/or Portuguese is helpful, but not necessary.
-Successful background check required
